Our History

In the fall of 1993 thirteen determine ladies sought to establish an ideal multicultural sorority. Upsilon Kappa Delta was officially established on December 10, 1993 at California State University, Chico. Through the years, interested women on different California University campuses realized that there was also a need for a multicultural sorority similar to that of Upsilon Kappa Delta. With this, the expansion of UKD to California State University, San Diego was made in the spring of 1998. Growing strong together as a sorority, the two chapters together recruited new members at the California State University, Stanislaus in the spring of 2000. California State University, Fresno followed in fall 2003 and in the summer of 2007 California State University, Los Angeles became a part of the family.

Our Philosophy

We intend to help each other with this educational process by informing ourselves as well as others in the community on our definition of multiculturalism. Our definition reads as follows:

“Multiculturalism is an appreciation of the different cultures in our sorority and around us; an acknowledgement of the different values and equality of diverse groups.”
