Upsilon Kappa Delta was founded on the pillars of Academics, Sisterhood, and Community Service. However, what makes our organization truly unique is our commitment to Multiculturalism and the importance it plays in our day-to-day lives.
“But why,” you may ask, “is Multiculturalism not one of our pillars?” Our Founding Mothers chose not to make it so for the simple reason that Multiculturalism should not be confined to a single facet life. Since our establishment in 1993, our organization has strove to be an example of the ideal multicultural sorority, meaning we emphasize diversity (racially, ethnically, religiously and sexually) and promote acceptance in all aspects of our organization, campus and local community. We feel our pillars are complementary principles that will lead our members to a full and rewarding life, but Multiculturalism is the ever-present theme that must connect them all together.
We feel Upsilon Kappa Delta will be a unique opportunity for the women, not only in facilitating their interaction with the rest of the diverse student body, but also in connecting them with our tight network of Chapters and Alumni. However, the benefits of our organization do not stop there. We continually look for opportunities to work with other campus and community organizations to spread messages, host events and do service that will educate and enlighten the entire student body to new experiences.
Our goal is to have ALL students walk away from the university with not only a degree in hand but a new outlook on the world and its people.
Fun Facts: Our mascot is the Butterfly. Our flower is the Stargazer Lily. Our philanthropy is Children with Special Needs. Our colors are Forest Green, Maroon, and Navy Blue.
